Why is knowing about pressure injuries important?

It's an endless pain. The public is not aware of how dangerous and debilitating pressure injuries are.

Rangi, 71

I can't sleep. I woken four times a night for turning. I am completely exhausted.

Rosalie Cunningham, 82

What causes pressure injuries?

If a person lays immobile, blood stops flowing in the tissue which cause tissue to decay. The tissue damage can happen in less than two hours of immobility. It is often irreversible and can't be healed.

How to prevent them?

If you're immobile nurses will have to reposition you every few hours.

What to be aware of?

Nurses can get distracted by emergencies and forget to do the reposition promptly. Late repositions increase the chance of pressure injuries developing. To mitigate the risk of late repositions, you may be rotated more often than required. This can cause unnecessary disturbances and reduce sleeping time.

How does SensorX help?

SensorX is a small box installed on the wall of you room. It automatically detects repositions and alerts nurses if reposition is late. It is completely contactless and does not affect your regular activities.

STEP 1 REPOSITION DETECTION

Located on the wall near the ceiling, SensorX automatically detects body repositions.

STEP 2 DASHBOARD

<br /> A proprietary algorithm calculates the risk of pressure injury development for each individual bony prominence. The status is displayed on a monitor (a desktop in a nursing room or portable tablet). SensorX will suggest optimal positions for the next reposition. In case of emergency, SensorX's 24/7 monitoring team will escalate the issue and contact the person in charge directly.

STEP 3: REPOSITION

A nurse conducts a reposition. If the reposition is incorrect (e.g. an inappropriate position), the nurse is notified.
